„The world used to be different, better.”
That is the phrase reverberating through the older generations as they look at the streets filled with people looking frantically for ways to earn more, have more, and be more than others.
The miserable feeling which such a view evokes makes us ask the question as to how far should we go to find the aforementioned better world? Are ten years enough? Maybe we should go as far as the World Trade Center towers stood as a synonym for the economic prowess of the US?
The time is passing, and it may seem that those days are buried beneath a thick layer of dirt, yet it is the year 1987 when the construction has been finished. It is not so long ago if we think about it for a moment; however, the perceiving of time depends on the years we have lived so far. Nevertheless, the question remains unanswered.
What if we took a giant leap to the past before the Great War took its toll? Are those the days we are looking for? What did those people have that we cannot find or buy with our credit cards? What is so precious, yet so vague, that made those days we long for so unique and valuable? What made the world so different, so better as some of us claim?
What if the answer awaits in plain sight, waiting to be discovered while we struggle to ask the right question? Let us change the angle a little bit, shall we?
Does the future unravels itself to us, or is it created?
What is the past, if not the future of our ancestors?
What is the world made of if not of the achievements, rules and virtues of the ones before us?
What is the world, if not the lives of the people tied together?
Every individual creates their life, its environment and influences the people who live with them. We make ourselves and are made by people around us.
Every action reverberates in the world no matter how small, for each action there is an equal reaction, as Newton’s Third Law of Motion tells. That is why we aim to follow the path of self-improvement since it is the best way to improve the overall quality of our life. As a result of that, the lives of the people important to us are also significantly improved.
So let us take a little journey through the rules written a long time ago, the rules that are as accurate as they were in the past.
Do not rush through them, and give yourself time to think. Ruminate about those ideas and about your own life, which we all want to improve and be better for ourselves and others.
